2. Mission and Purpose
Mission
To preserve and uplift Black heritage in Arkansas through education, preservation, and community engagement.

The Scott G. Green Foundation’s mission is a call to action—an invitation to protect what matters and inspire future generations. We believe that the stories, places, and people who have shaped Black history in Arkansas deserve not only remembrance but reverence. By safeguarding these cultural legacies, we help to restore pride, context, and truth to our shared historical narrative.

Purpose
To protect historically significant structures, honor cultural legacy, and foster a greater public understanding of Black contributions to Arkansas history.

Our purpose is to serve as both a guardian and a guide. We act as stewards of neglected or threatened historical sites, while also amplifying the legacies of those whose contributions have been overlooked or erased. The Foundation engages with communities, educators, artists, preservationists, and historians to ensure that Black history is preserved not only in buildings and landmarks, but in living memory. Through youth training programs, media campaigns, cultural events, and collaborative restoration projects, we create opportunities for education, empowerment, and civic pride.
